Queen Mary BioEnterprises Chooses Cavell Street for New Life Sciences Incubator Hub
Queen Mary BioEnterprises Innovation Centre has selected Cavell Street in Whitechapel as the location for its new incubator hub.
The proposed 37,000 sq ft facility is part of the broader redevelopment of 100–136 Cavell Street, E1, being delivered by Lateral in a joint venture with HIG. The redevelopment forms part of plans to transform a former clothing factory into a 115,000 sq ft life sciences facility, with approval from Tower Hamlets Council’s strategic development committee expected in the first quarter of this year.
The site sits at the heart of the Whitechapel Life Sciences Cluster, which Lateral helped to establish alongside Barts Life Sciences, Barts Health NHS Trust, Queen Mary University of London, the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Property Services, and private landowners. Proposals for the wider masterplan, which aim to transform a series of outdated buildings and vacant sites around the Royal London Hospital, were approved late last year.
Rob Beacroft, co-founder of Lateral, said:
“By providing high-quality facilities and support services, we are fostering an environment where innovative start-ups can thrive and contribute to groundbreaking health outcomes.”
Ted Webster, chairman at Queen Mary BioEnterprises, added:
“The new incubator space will enable us to nurture the next generation of innovative companies, providing them with the resources and environment they need to succeed.”
