Lateral Grows Urban Science and Tech Platform in Cambridge

Date 21st January 2025

Lateral has acquired Radio House and St Andrew’s House in Cambridge — two adjoining buildings that together create an 85,000 sq ft innovation campus at the heart of one of the world’s foremost centres for science and technology.

Cambridge is globally recognised for academic excellence, research breakthroughs and its unique concentration of science, technology and innovation talent. The city’s central locations are increasingly vital to attracting and retaining that talent — and this acquisition secures one of the few truly urban opportunities within the ecosystem.

Radio House will support the city’s growing technology and engineering sectors, offering high-quality dry labs and adaptable workspace. St Andrew’s House will undergo a full conversion to provide specialist wet-lab facilities for life sciences and health research. Delivered as sustainable retrofits to BREEAM Excellent standards, both buildings will combine technical capability with accessibility and affordability — a rare blend in such a competitive market.

This is a science and technology play that goes beyond property. It’s about people, place and prosperity — creating the infrastructure that allows ideas to grow, supporting inclusive economic opportunity, and investing in the built environment with a deft touch that respects the rhythm of the city around it.

By bringing together wet-lab and dry-lab capability in a connected, central location, Radio House and St Andrew’s House will strengthen Cambridge’s position as a global leader in innovation — and demonstrate how thoughtful urban integration can drive both discovery and community value.
